Disaster Distress Helpline - Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration - SAMHSA

A toll-free, multilingual, and confidential crisis support service. Provides support to anyone experiencing emotional distress related to disasters such as tornados, severe storms, hurricanes, tropical storms, floods, wildfires, earthquakes, drought, incidents of mass violence, anniversaries, and trigger events. Provides counseling and support services 24 hours/7 days a week with a trained crisis counselor. Counselors provide: - Information on how to recognize distress and its effects on individuals and families - Tips for healthy coping - Referrals to local crisis call centers for additional follow-up care and support - Listen with patience and without judgment - Calls can remain anonymous
