- Community Dining Locations: Offer affordable meals in a community atmosphere at locations such as senior housing, and community or senior centers - Dine-In or Take-out Service Options: Local restaurants offer meals throughout the day or over the lunch hour with no reservations required - Meals on Wheels Home-Delivery Options: Hot, nutritious meals are typically delivered Monday - Friday to homebound older adults. Frozen meals available for weekends, holidays and other closure days. Clients choose their delivery schedule (minimum of 3 meals per week). They also may choose to have a hot meal delivered daily by a volunteer or choose a combination of hot meals and frozen meals delivered on the days that work best for them. - Bundled Service Program: Nutritious frozen meals, food shelf commodities and Nutritional Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS) food boxes are available to older adults living in rural areas outside of the local Meals on Wheels delivery area. 10 or 14 meals packs are delivered in Aitkin, Itasca, Lake and Saint Louis counties. This program also serves as a safety net for participants as telephone contacts and check-ins offer opportunities to convey their day-to-day concerns. In addition to nutritious meals, the service includes nutrition screening, assessment and education. A Registered Dietitian completes a nutritional analysis and approves the cycle menus. Meals comply with the most recent Dietary Guidelines for Americans and provide a minimum of 1/3 of the dietary reference intakes established by the Food and Nutrition Board.
