Child Protective Services - Scott County Health and Human Services

Accepts and responds to and/or investigates reports of child abuse, neglect or abandonment. All reports are confidential and callers may make anonymous reports. Services may include: - Acceptance of reports of abuse - Assessment of the initial referral - Assistance toward unification or reunification - Consultation to individuals who suspect abuse - Consultation with the family to determine the nature of the problem - Family assessment or traditional investigation - Ongoing support services for children and their families - Temporary placement of children who are removed from the home NOTE: In addition to taking reports, child protection screeners are available to explain the reporting statutes, answer questions regarding agency practices, and discuss other resources and strategies when reports do not meet criteria for assignment for child protection investigation.
