Teenage Pregnancy and Parenting Program - TAPPP - Minneapolis Public Schools - Special School District 1
On-site services for pregnant and parenting teens, Minneapolis public school students only. Includes: Academic Services: Services are available at both traditional and non traditional high school settings. Child Care Services: Four licensed child care sites located at Broadway at Longfellow, North, Roosevelt/Wellstone, and South High School. Child Care is available for children ages 6 weeks - 5 years old. Parenting Education: Parent education classes are part of the school day. How these services are offered vary from site to site. Prenatal and Homebound Services: In addition to the regular high school curriculum, pregnant teens participate in prenatal and parenting classes. It is essential that the teen parent remain connected to school during maternity leave so after the birth of their child, teen parents are connected with tutors to assist them in completing their assignments and support them in their return to high school. Support Services: Pregnant and parenting teens enrolled in any Minneapolis public school may need some additional help. Provides support in finding and accessing valuable resources. These resources may be accessed through MPS staff and Hennepin County staff located on site at Longfellow Community. In addition, social workers are located at Broadway High School at Longfellow, South High School and Roosevelt/Wellstone High School. Community Partnerships: TAPPP works with many community partners to meet the needs of the student parent and their children.
