Mentoring Program - STARS Mentoring

Provides a mentoring program focusing on the needs of the mentee and encourages them to make positive and healthy life choices. Mentors support youth by being their friend and building a relationship of trust. Services include: - Age-appropriate activities with youth such as walking, fishing, sports, crafts, swimming, biking, visiting the library, baking, homework, movies, and more - Mentors meet 2 - 4 times per month with their mentees for a year - Mentors meet for two or more hours for educational, recreational, and social activities - Youth interested in being a mentee, needing a mentor, and in need of a positive role model to make positive choices, build self-esteem, and support academic achievement

Eligibility

- Mentors: Adults over the age of 18, who are interested in being a mentor, have access to reliable transportation, agree to background screening procedures, adhere to Mentor Policies, and can commit to one year of the program - Mentees: Youth ages 7 - 18 years old, willing to participate in the mentoring program, and commit to a year in the program - Must be residents of Freeborn County and the eastern portion of Faribault County in the cities of Bricelyn, Easton, Kiester, Walters, and Wells
