Family Court Self-Help Service Center - Ramsey County Second Judicial District Court
Provides appropriate forms, information and referrals to parties representing themselves in family court. Staff cannot provide legal assistance or act as an attorney. Services include: - 30 minute video on "How to Start a Divorce" - Access to motion forms or dissolution forms which can be completed at home or at the center. All appropriate documentation must be included. - Staff review of documents for neatness, completeness and consistency - Staff assistance with scheduling court hearings, making copies and explaining service requirements - Legal clinic open two times a week. Volunteer attorneys can provide answers to legal questions, offer procedural advice and help fill out court provided forms. They may also help explain a Court Order. They can provide assistance in the areas of divorce, child custody, child support, visitation, paternity issues and other family law matters. - Child Support Motion Clinic, 9 am, first and third Friday of month for those who want to modify the child support order. Hours
- Self Help Center 8 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday. Document review available 8:30 am - 10 am and 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Plan to spend one to two hours at the center. More than one visit to the center may be necessary. - Legal clinic 12 noon - 2 pm Monday and Wednesday. Appointments are 1/2 hour.

Fee
Free advice and legal clinic. Dissolution forms packages cost $10, standard motion forms packages are $5. Both are available for free at www.mncourts.gov/forms.
Required documents
- All appropriate documentation such as pay stubs, proof of child's residence, etc. must be attach to all motions. - For the law clinic: All documents pertaining to the legal issues including any paperwork received concerning the case; and the names, phone numbers and addresses of all persons involved. Preparing and bringing a written summary of the legal situation will also make the most of the time available with the attorney.
