Health Education Outreach - Sustainable Resources Center

Provides lead education, outreach, and blood lead screening. Services include: - Baby Safe at Home: Provides free home visits to identify lead hazards in the home; qualifying households will be provided with safety items that protect babies from household hazards - Community outreach, presentations on preventing childhood lead poisoning for both children and adult audiences - Healthy Homes: Help identify and take care of safety and health hazards in the home - Screening for lead in the blood by qualified medical professionals for children under 6 and pregnant individuals at some events - Free home visits to identify lead hazards in the home. A community educator will visit the home to identify lead hazards and assist the family in applying for a lead abatement grant.

Eligibility

Families who are low income that meet the following: - Hennepin County residents - Home was built before 1978, and there is cracking, peeling paint on the original wood windows - Meet income guidelines - Must have a child under the age of 6 who lives or frequently visits the home, or have a pregnant individual living in the home
