Eligibility

Low and moderate income people, people with disabilities, and people with limited English-speaking skills who are residents of Dodge and Olmsted Counties

Required documents

Individuals need to complete Form 13614-C, Intake/Interview & Quality Review Sheet and Form 14446, Virtual VITA/TCE Taxpayer Consent. Copies in multiple languages are available on HTTP://www.irs.gov, at all participating locations specified in the application process section, and at the tax site before the appointment. Individuals should complete intake forms before their appointment if possible or arrive 15 minutes early to do so. Application process

Income tax appointment scheduling begins mid-January for appointments beginning early February at sites in Olmsted and Doge Counties. Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first serve basis by calling 211. IF eligible, taxpayers can also self-schedule at semntaxes.org. Language support is available for appointments upon request. Property tax appointment scheduling will begin mid-March 2026. 1. Taxpayer calls United Way 2-1-1 or visits https://vitataxprep.as.me/schedule.php to schedule an appointment (45 minute slot). Individuals with more than 1 year of taxes to be filed or individuals coming with a family member they are not filing jointly will need to schedule 2 appointments. All appointments are expected to take approximately 1-2 hours, but can last up to 3hrs. 2. Upon arrival to appointment, taxpayer must verify identification (have a photo ID and/or Social Security card ready) and will then give their paperwork to the tax preparer. Taxpayer must complete an intake packet before their appointment. If they do not complete the intake packet before their appointment, they must arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment and may have to complete it in their car or outside as there are no waiting areas available at some sites.
