- Education and outreach: Providing education, consultation, and resources to businesses and residents on topics like safe food handling, water quality, lead, radon, mold, and environmental hazard prevention
- Healthy housing and environmental consultation: Supporting healthy living environments through assessments, advice, and community awareness on environmental health issues
- Licensing and inspection of establishments: Conducting regular inspections and issuing licenses for food service locations, pools and spas, lodging facilities, manufactured home parks, youth camps, and special event food stands to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Public health nuisance response: Investigating and addressing complaints about health hazards such as unsafe sanitation, contaminated water, pest infestations, and other conditions that may affect community health
