Eligibility

- Low income adults who are residents of Le Sueur County - Annual net income must be at or below 200% Federal Poverty Guideline for the previous year - Must be without resources to meet the emergency need, assistance provided must resolve the crisis - Must have spent at least 50% of their income in the last 60 days towards basic need items - Must not be a current recipient of DWP of MFIP - Must not have refused to accept employment or quit a job without good cause NOTE: If emergency is a utility disconnection, applicant must have made at least one payment to the vendor in the past 12 months.

- Application/registration form - Verified proof of emergency (eviction or utility shutoff notice) - Proof of income in the last 60 days - Account statements to see if applicant has available resources they can use towards the emergency - Additional document may be requested based on assistance requested

Description

Cash-grant program for adults with low incomes experiencing a household emergency. The assistance received must resolve the crisis. Adults must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help. Short-term, one-time per year grant assistance for persons in a financial crisis due to evictions, utility disconnections, or other crisis/emergency situations. The grant is provided in the form of direct payment to the vendor, for assisting with the following expenses: - Car Repair and Expenses - Mortgage - Moving Expenses - Property Taxes - Rent Payment - Rental/Utility Deposit - Utilities Assistance may depend based on availability of funds per season. NOTE: Client may also be eligible for Emergency Assistance, and/or Emergency Medical Assistance.
