Minnesota Lawyer Referral and Information Service - MNLRIS - Hennepin County Bar Association

- Lawyer referral counselors are not attorneys, but can help clarify legal issues, schedule an initial consultation with a private attorney in the area of law needed, and/or refer to an appropriate government and/or social service agency. - Referred attorneys are not free. Appointments are made with attorneys who have been prescreened to be experienced, in good standing with the Ethics Board, and have adequate Malpractice insurance. - MNLRIS can intercede on behalf of the client when there is a formal complaint. - If client is not happy with the first referred attorney, an attempt is made to refer client to up to two more attorneys for no charge. Note: Persons can also find out more about the practice areas of the volunteer attorneys at Legal Access Point at the Hennepin County Government Center on a particular day or online here.
