Departments:

- City Administrator, City Attorney, City Clerk

- Economic Development: Encourages economic development and redevelopment in and around the city of Virginia, including business grants, loans, and incentives

- Election and Voting: Absentee voting, voter registration, and voter information

- Engineering Department: Community development, permitting and planning department issuing building permits, fence permits, sign permits, and demolition permits, and limited residential building code inspections

- Fire Department: Provides fire protection, suppression, and rescue services to the citizens of Virginia

- Parks and Recreation: Maintains the Iron Trail Motors Event Center, city parks and city owned golf course and tennis facility. Responsible for trimming/caring of trees on and overhanging city property.

- Permits and Licenses: Animal licenses, dance permits, liquor licenses, and vendor licensees

- Public Works Department: Maintain streets, alleys, and curb repairs including, plow, sand and remove snow, paint traffic control aids, and remove/replace signage; garbage and recycling pickups
