Eligibility
Residents of Sherburne County must:
  • Be a United States citizen or a qualifying noncitizen
  • Meet the income limit and asset limit, if any
  • Meet any other program rules

Application Process

A federal assistance program that helps pay for the medical care and nursing home care of individuals who cannot pay for their care. The medical services that may be paid for by Medical Assistance (MA) include:
  • Physician care
  • Hospital care
  • Prescriptions
  • Eyecare
  • Routine dental care
  • Mental health treatment
  • Chemical dependency care
  • Nursing home care
  • Reimbursement for medical transportation and other health care access services is available
NOTE: Individuals may be eligible only for MA, or they may also be eligible for one of the cash assistance programs, EMA, and/or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) services. Those who receive cash through MFIP or MSA will, with few exceptions, also receive MA. MA is different from Medicare. People with disabilities who work, even if they're over the income or asset limits of MA, may still qualify for a program called Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with Disabilities (MA-EPD).
