- Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner: When a victim comes to the emergency department within 120 hours (5 days) after the assault, a sexual assault nurse examiner can evaluate him or her for health risks and provide treatment. The nurse also collects evidence of the assault to be used if the victim chooses to report the crime. Crisis information and referrals to support services, as well as medical follow-up, are also provided.
