Medical Transportation Program - Mercy Medical Angels

Provides medical transportation via airplane, long-distance bus travel, and Amtrak. Resources are tailored for the patient's condition, age, departure, and destination locations. Air flights are flown by volunteer pilots and commercial airlines. Airline assistance is for patients with a medical need and one necessary escort. Ground transportation assistance includes gas cards, commercial bus, or Amtrak tickets to a medical-related treatment.

Eligibility

Individuals with a medical condition in need of long-distance medical transportation; serves statewide Individuals must be: - Able to sit on their own once they are in a seat - Require little to no medical attention - Be able to transfer out of their wheelchair into their seat on the aircrafit with little or no assistance - If the patient requires oxygen, they must have a portable oxygen concentrator (POC) approved by the FAA or the airlines - An income-based, nonrefundable airline ticket processing will be determined upon verification of all required documentation - For ground transportation or gas cards, travel must be non-local of more than 50 miles away and qualify based on income
