Below are some signs that a scammer may be on the phone: - Ask for credit card numbers over the phone - The agency will not call without mailing a bill - Threaten arrest through local police or law-enforcement - The IRS will not angrily demand payment over the phone - Require you to use a specific payment method, such as a pre-paid debit card Individuals who believe they are the target of an impersonation scam should call the IRS.
