Home Ownership Program - Habitat For Humanity - Itasca County

- Dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing by building homes, hope, and community in Itasca County - Provide housing for families who are living in substandard housing (overcrowded, unsafe, poorly insulated, etc.) who could otherwise not afford it; at a no interest and no profit rate - Prospective families must be able to work on their homes as well as be responsible for payments - Habitat For Humanity will build homes and act as a local mortgage company to a family selected to purchase the home - Offers classes on financial readiness, homeowner education, and skills to care for their new home - The no-interest, affordable mortgage is set up over a 25-30 year period and the payments are then used to help build more houses for other families in Itasca County - 2-3 families picked per year for consideration for home through the application process
