Car Ownership Program - Community Action Partnership of Ramsey and Washington Counties

NOTE: Program is currently not accepting new applications. Please do not refer. Applicants must attend a Budget and Credit Report Review Session before the loan is presented to the committee and Financial Literacy Classes before the check is released. These classes are offered by Community Action Partnership of Ramsey & Washington Counties. Call for schedule. Applicants must be currently employed. Unemployed applicants who receive SSI, Disability, unpaid leave or are laid off are not eligible. Applicant must have sufficient expendable income to repay to loan. Applicants will be presented to a loan committee for final approval. Prequalification does not guarantee loan approval. Loans can be used for auto purchase (maximum of $6000). Repayment is made in equal monthly amounts. Length of loan varies. Check will be cut to the end-recipient, not the participant. No-interest loans available to adults age 18 or older, and are currently employed for minimum of 20 hours a weeks for 6 months or longer. Upon approval for a used car purchase, applicant will be registered with the Minnesota Metro Ride Share Program Other restrictions may apply. Note: This is not a crisis or emergency program. Application takes 2 - 6 weeks.

Eligibility

Residents of Ramsey or Washington County who meet the following criteria: - Household income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines - Provide recent documentation of monthly income - Provide proof of "full coverage insurance" prior to loan closing date - Must have a continuous work history of 6+ months at a minimum of 20 hours per week - Must have a valid Minnesota driver's license - Household income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines
