Bridges Rental Assistance Program - Scott County Community Development Agency

Eligibility
Open to all households who meet the priority population requirements, including:
  • People living in an institution or other segregated setting who will be homeless when discharged
  • People who are experiencing homelessness or are at imminent risk of homelessness
  • Serves Scott County
Households that meet the requirements listed above should also meet these eligibility requirements:
  • The head of the household or other household member must be 18 years of age or over and have a diagnosed mental illness
  • The household is eligible to receive a Housing Choice Voucher or can become eligible based on successful participation in the Bridges Program
  • The household's gross income at the time of initial eligibility is at or below 50% of the AMI for the household size

Program Fees

  • No Fee
Provides housing assistance for individuals and families with low income who include at least one adult with a serious mental illness while they wait for a Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) or another rental subsidy. Eligible for Bridges funding includes application fees, financial assurance/risk mitigation program fees, damage claims, rental assistance payments, security deposits, utility connection fees, and vacancy payments paid directly to the landlord on behalf of qualified participants. The rental subsidy is temporary and is intended to bridge the housing gap between exiting institutions, segregated settings, supervised release, and homelessness to a permanent, affordable housing option.
