Minnesota Food Assistance Program - MFAP - Mahnomen County Social Services Department
Provides state-funded food assistance to legal noncitizens ages 50 or older who do not qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly called Food Stamps or Food Support) because of their citizenship status. Monthly benefits are loaded on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which looks and works like a debit card. The card can be used to buy groceries at authorized stores, farmers' markets, and online retailers. Learn more about where to shop and what can be bought. The amount of benefits received is based on income, expenses, and the number of people in the household.
