Assists consumers in resolving problems in the areas of insurance, banking, securities, real estate, collection agencies, payday lending, currency exchanges, and residential mortgage originator (including loan modification). This includes complaints or potential misconduct or fraud. Assists Minnesotans to reunite with unclaimed property held by the State of Minnesota. The Department of Commerce maintains an online database of unclaimed property in Minnesota. Searching the database is free online at www.missingmoney.com. Conducts criminal investigations of suspected insurance fraud and related financial crimes. Types of insurance fraud that are investigated include: - Automobile - Commercial - Disability - Health - Homeowners - Life - Mortgage Fraud (Title Fraud) - Worker's Compensation
