Is responsible for protecting life, property, and public peace within the Shakopee community. It provides law enforcement, crime prevention, and community-safety services designed to support residents, businesses, and visitors. - Crime prevention programs: Offering programs, resources, and guidance aimed at reducing crime, supporting addiction recovery resources, and promoting safe multi-housing environments. - Community policing and outreach: The department emphasizes strong relationships with the local community, hosting events, working with schools/neighborhoods, and building trust and cooperation. - Emergency response and patrol: Responding to 911 calls, non-emergency incidents, and logging/responding to crime, accidents, disturbances, suspicious activity, etc. - Investigations: Handling crime investigations (theft, assault, traffic collisions, etc.), gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working toward the resolution of offenses. - Traffic enforcement and safety: Enforcing traffic laws, conducting investigations of crashes, promoting safe driving, and pedestrian/bicycle safety.
