Description

Provides the following support services: - Caregiver Consulting: Professional assistance providing information, assessment, education, coordination, and training for caregivers and care receivers - Caregiver Relief: Coordinates volunteer help for the person who cares for a chronically ill home-bound loved one. Allows the caregiver time to attend to other tasks and provides contact for the home-bound person - Caregiver Support Group: Helps spouses and family members with changes in the family unit; once a month in both Ely and Babbitt - Friendly Visits: Volunteer visits for area residents who might be homebound or just alone and want or need contact with the greater community - Grocery Delivery: Available for those who find it difficult or unsafe to navigate local grocery stores. Volunteers will deliver groceries to the home - Northwoods Memory Care Program: Guides clients and their families through Alzheimer's by helping to reduce stress and increasing family support - Tasty Tuesday: Provides a class to older adults at no cost at the Ely senior center. The class provides healthy recipes, food preparation, and more. Availability is limited. - Volunteer Rides: Coordinates rides that are not available through other services for local and long distance medical appointments, meetings, errands, and social events.
