Attorney handles: - Child protection - Child support - Civil issues - Criminal issues - Third-party involuntary commitments - Traffic violations Crime victim services provide the following services: - Advocacy - Crime victim rights information - Assistance in understanding the victim's rights - Education about the criminal justice system - Information about what is happening in the case and procedure - Information on eligibility and restitution from the defendant or the Minnesota Reparations Board - Liaison with the prosecutor for victims and witnesses - Limited emergency funds for victims - Provide assistance with testimony preparations during trials and writing/presenting victim impact statements - Referral to counseling or assistance programs
