Nonemergency Medical Transportation Services (NEMT) - Minnesota Department of Human Services
NEMT provides Medical Assistance (MA) members with the safe, appropriate and cost-effective mode of transportation to get to and from nonemergency medical service appointments. Members can arrange NEMT as one-way or round trips. Medical necessity determines which of the following types or levels of transport and ancillary services the member is certified to receive for transport to and from covered medical services: - Local county or tribal agency-administered NEMT includes: - Private automobiles - Volunteer drivers - Bus, taxicab or dial-a-ride, light rail or other commercial carriers State-administered NEMT services; transport services for members unable to use county or tribal-administered NEMT includes: - Ramp or lift equipped (wheelchair, scooter) - Protected - Stretcher transports

- Application; Medical Assistance card; Medicare card; proof of household income - Those that are on restriction must get a referral from the county worker or DHS member help desk
Eligibility
Open to all who meet one of the following criteria: - Enrolled in Emergency Medical Assistance (EMA) - Enrolled in Medical Assistance (MA) - Enrolled in Minnesota Family Planning Program (MFPP) - Enrolled in Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA) - Enrolled in state-only funded MA benefits due to residing in an institution for mental diseases (IMD) - A MinnesotaCare enrollee under the age of 19 - A pregnant person enrolled in MinnesotaCare NOTE: Those covered under the Emergency Medical Assistance (EMA) program being transported for services not related to their EMA-approved medical condition are not eligible for this program
