Waste Management and Composting - Saint Paul - Ramsey County Public Health
Household Hazardous Waste: County residents may bring certain household hazardous waste such as used oil, products containing mercury, etc. to collection sites for proper disposal. A list of accepted items can be found online. The year round site is at Bay West, Inc. 5 Empire Drive, St. Paul 55103. Needles, syringes, lancets and other medical sharps can be disposed of at the year round collection site. Transport them in an empty detergent bottle or other closed container with a screw on lid and label the container "needles". Residents will be asked to place the container in the collection bin themselves. If there are syringes or epipens with liquid remaining they should be disposed of at the Medicine Collection Program drop off locations. Reuse Center: Located at main collection site, allows for the reuse of still-usable household chemicals such as paints, automotive fluids, and pesticides. Must be 18 or older to take products. Product availability and selection will vary. Yard Waste: County residents may bring leaves, brush, and grass clippings to specific sites and pick up free compost. Items accepted vary by site.

Application process
Walk in Household Hazardous Waste: Remain in vehicle while technician unloads the hazardous waste. In addition to the main collection site, seasonal sites are open throughout the county April - October. Visit website or call for locations.
