- Hennepin County residents who are low income, unemployed or on public assistance or unable to afford a private attorney - All persons eligible for services of the Hennepin County Public Defender's Office are eligible for services at Legal Rights Center
- Bring any and all documents related to the case if seeking representation on a criminal or juvenile court matter or legal information and referral assistance on a civil law matter - If seeking services on behalf of someone in jail, bring as much information about the case as possible, including any documents, especially any information about court case numbers or future court dates
- Public Office: 10 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday - Walk-in: 10 am - 12 noon Tuesday

- Walk in during designated Tuesday hours or by appointment - Adults and juveniles facing a criminal charge in Hennepin County should bring all relevant documents to the main office 10 am - noon Tuesday. It is especially important to bring copies of any charging documents (citations and/or complaints). Call for alternative community intake days and sites. People will be seen in the order in which they sign in and will meet with a Community Advocate who will determine if the case can be handled by the Legal Rights Center. If not, a referral may be made to other resources. - Clients may begin an intake for a friend or family member who is currently in jail in Hennepin County. Bring as much information about their case that clients have access to. - Provides holistic and client-centered legal services, advocacy, and social-referral services for low-income juveniles in the juvenile justice system and adults in the criminal justice system. - Restorative justice intervention providing family group conferencing (by arrangement with school districts, police, courts, and other partners). - Advice and consultation about problems relating to criminal records or criminal history, including exploration of expungement options. - "Know Your Rights" courses provide interactive legal education tailored for youth. - Staff consisting of community advocates, attorneys, and restorative justice professionals.
