A supplemental food distribution program that provides pre-packed boxes of food. Food items will vary but can include fresh produce, canned goods, and other pantry staples. This distribution of food items is not intended to be a full-service, it is intended to be a supplemental food support option in addition to other services.

The program issues electronic food support benefits that can help stretch your household food budget. - Information and Referral: Offers information on resources of local food shelves - Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS) Applications: The program is designed to provide healthy and nutritious food products each month at no cost to eligible individuals over the age of 60. Helps eligible individuals apply for the program. - Second Harvest Heartland: Provides a free food distribution program to those in need - Prairie Five Meals Program: Offers congregate dining, home delivered, and frozen meals serving 34 communities in the area. Frozen meals are available for weekend, holiday, emergency and rural delivery. - Surplus produce and dry goods that are about to have their expiration date expire. - People are encouraged to bring boxes or a laundry basket because food is in bulk units. - Volunteer opportunities.
Distributes free produce.
Provides a hot meal and a food line with bags of boxed and canned pantry items
Provides food; regular distribution can be done during open hours. If unable to attend, clients may send a proxy to collect food on their behalf. Emergency food boxes are available between distributions for people in a food emergency. They are available at the following locations: Saint Bernard's Church - 105 Knight Avenue North, Thief River Falls, MN - (218)681-3571 - On weekends Donations: Accept perishable and nonperishable food items, baby food, diapers, and personal grooming supplies. Volunteer opportunities are available.

- Volunteer-run organization that distributes emergency food - Emergency visits and delivery are available upon request between distribution dates - More than 90% of donations used to purchase food. The number one goal of Passing the Bread is to offer nutritious foods, including dairy, eggs, meat, fruit, and vegetables. - An additional goal is to offer nutritious food that is: - Nonperishable - Low sodium - Low in carbohydrates
Collaborative effort with local businesses, restaurants, and corporations. Provides a grocery giveaway with a combination of fresh produce, bakery goods, shelf-stable items, and/or refrigerated and frozen food products.
- Emergency Food Shelf: Can be accessed once every three months by individuals residing in Dakota County. Individuals receive approximately one weeks worth of food for their family including frozen meat and shelf staple items. Food distribution is based on what is available. - Weekly Food Distributions: Typically includes fresh produce, meat, bread, and bakery items. Quantity is dependent on donations coming in, but typically each person receives a box of food items.
