Operates two free food markets available to shoppers twice per month that provide a supply of food that changes depending on donations (quantities are based on household size). Each market usually includes fresh produce, bread, refrigerator and dairy items, canned and boxed foods, cultural-specific items (Hmong, Latino, East African), frozen meat, and staple items. Emergency bags are available on a walk-in basis once per month and include pre-packed grocery bag of dry/canned goods, one meat option, and one bag of cold items (milk, eggs, produce, etc.)

Food boxes may include shelf-stable pantry items, bread, cereals, and meat; boxes packed according to the size of the family. Fresh produce and bread distribution provided on a weekly basis.
The food shelf at Winona Volunteer Services is open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 10 am to 1 pm, Thursdays 3 pm to 6 pm, and Fridays 2 pm to 5 pm, with the last shopper checked in no later than 15 minutes before closing. Volunteer Services provides food to any individual or family who qualify with income at or below 300% of the federal poverty level. Volunteer Services no longer issues food shelf cards. Shoppers are allowed in one person at a time, with a maximum of six shoppers. Masks are required for those who are not fully vaccinated, and strongly encouraged for all others. Shoppers are encouraged to maintain at least six feet of physical distance from other shoppers and volunteers. Individuals may send someone to shop on their behalf if unable to come to the food shelf. If the individual has no one to shop for them, please refer them to Food Delivery aka Groceries on the Go at Winona Volunteer Services. Winona Volunteer Services offers a very limited supply of emergency food, which will provide enough food until the next available shopping day.

Services include: - Application assistance for those who qualify to enroll in the MNsure health insurance program, Nutrition Assistance Program - NAPS, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - SNAP - A weekly food supply - Cleaning supplies - Parent support such as baby food, breast milk, diapers, and formula - Personal hygiene products including condoms, pads, and tampons - Pet food

The food shelf provides food for individuals and families in need. Guests may come once per month.
Provides no-cost food, household, and hygiene essentials to those in need. Offers a grocery store-style environment that provides a variety of healthy and culturally specific options, including fresh produce, dairy, snacks, and a variety of meats including halal options. Shelves are restocked throughout the day, so everyone has equal access to offerings, regardless of their shopping day or time.
