The class provides healthy recipes, food preparation, and more. Availability is limited. - Volunteer Rides: Coordinates rides that are not available through other services for local and long distance medical appointments, meetings, errands, and social events.

Services include: - Home Delivery: Non-perishable food items plus dairy, butter, milk, eggs, fresh produce, and frozen meat are delivered to individuals who are homebound - Must Go Produce: Extra food available for families for the weekend - Summer Bag Program: Provides additional kid-friendly food to families with school-age children during the summer. Weekend bags provide additional food for school-age children receiving free or reduced lunches but still struggle with hunger on weekends. Each bag includes healthy food options for kids such as canned fruit and vegetable; juice box; spaghetti and spaghetti sauce; potential extras like granola bars and fruit cups. 1 bag is available for every 2 children. 1 bag is available per month. Goal is to help compensate for kids who aren't getting school lunch during the summer.

Individuals and seniors who experience difficulties shopping for their groceries at the food shelf can request "Groceries On the Go", a free monthly food shelf delivery service.

Distributes mainstream and culturally relevant food and household items. Services include: - Bonus area with additional items for guests with no restriction on the number of visits - Food delivery services: Available for guests who are unable to visit the food shelf - Food pantry guests can access twice a month - West African Ethnic Food Pantry (WAEFP) guests can access once a month and receive up to 5 staple food items

Shelves are restocked throughout the day, so everyone has equal access to offerings, regardless of their shopping day or time.

An emergency food shelf for persons in need, can be used once a month. Will also provide food delivery for those who are homebound.

Errands and shopping assistance - Volunteers will run local errands like picking up prescriptions or getting groceries for homebound seniors ensuring that they have the needed supplies to maintain their health and continue functioning independently at home Friendly visits - Volunteers provide social interaction for those who live alone or who would benefit from additional support and companionship Handyworker and yardwork assistance - Volunteers provide assistance with minor home repairs and maintenance (recipients are expected to pay for needed materials), outdoor chores such as garden projects, yard work, cleaning out gutters or snow removal Housekeeping and chore service - Volunteers provide assistance with routine cleaning and/or other occasional deep cleaning around the home to help ensure that seniors have a clean and safe environment which helps reduce safety risks that would be present if the senior attempted to do these chores on their own Resource and referral - Provides resources and referrals for any number of services that are not provided directly by agency Respite care - Volunteers provide the primary caregiver a temporary reprieve from their caregiving responsibilities and provide companionship and support to the senior receiving care. Faith In Action volunteers are not able to help with personal care such as toileting/bathing or assist with transfers or provide medical services such as administering medication or changing dressings. Transportation - Volunteer Drivers transport and escort participants to medical and non medical appointments helping increase mobility for seniors who are unable to drive or providing a safe alternative for those who still have a vehicle and license. Mileage reimbursement is available to all volunteer drivers.

Families and individuals can use the food shelf once per month by appointment. The food shelf: - Accepts donations of nonperishable food and select personal care/household items are accepted. Using volunteer support from the community and throughout the Twin Cities, East Side Elders provides a variety of programming including: - Chores and Housekeeping: Visitors can help with everyday chores such as laundry, vacuuming, writing checks, doing the dishes, or simply reading a book. This service allows a friendly visitor to make sure that the house is secure and there are no safety issues. - Elder Cafe: Quarterly social event with a meal and entertainment. This event also offers a blood pressure clinic and an annual flu vaccination clinic. - Friendly Visiting/Callers: Volunteers can be arranged to visit with seniors who may not have someone else to check in with them from time to time to ensure they have everything they need. Volunteers can be matched with a specific senior or can be on-call on an as-needed basis. - Information and Referral: Program staff know other resources in the area and can help arrange for someone to help - Residential Snow Removal: Assists elders in need of snow removal services. This service is on a first-come, first-served basis and may not be available throughout the entire winter if the client list is full. - Rides: Volunteer drivers take seniors to doctor appointments, grocery stores, and other destinations for special events. Note: Volunteers are limited and rides are not guaranteed. - Wellness Clinics: Located at The Salvation Army on Payne Avenue open to the community for those ages 60 and above. Parkway Gardens Apartments and the Elders Lodge is currently limited to residents only.

Grocery shopping at 4 Super One locations delivered to area senior citizens. Call in order, groceries shopped and delivered to client's door. Deliver almost all products carried by the store, including birthday cakes, greeting cards, store gift cards (up to $50 value), grocery bags, phone cards, deli and bakery pickups, and stamps. No alcohol and/or tobacco products.
