Carver County Housing Unit provides information and referral on housing resources within the community. Offers information on different access points to apply for housing, coordinated entry processes, and community housing information. Limited temporary motel vouchers are provided during extreme weather-related conditions. Motel vouchers are not provided on an emergency basis and are determined on a case-by-case basis.

Provides services for single adults and families who are in need: Emergency Shelter: ? ?- There is a waiting list. Limited funds for a hotel stay only during an extreme heat or cold weather-related condition for Carver and Scott County. Housing Hub:

• Connects single adults ages 18 and over and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of being homeless in Carver and Scott County with a Housing Specialist to provide housing problem solving. Housing Specialists can assist households with practical solutions, identify sources, alternatives, and mediate conflict resolution between landlords, friends, or family.

• The initial access point to be connected with a Housing Specialist is short-term with a 30-day timeframe. After 30 days initial contact, households with no other pathways identified will be connected to a Housing Assessor and placed on the Housing Registry.

NOTE: Single adults and families in need of shelter and housing hub services in Dakota County should call Dakota County's Housing Resource Line.

Offers limited motel vouchers as a short-term solution while working with people to develop a plan for long-term housing stability. Part of the plan may include employment and housing searches, connections to mainstream resources, and short to medium-term rental assistance.

Provides vouchers for hotel/motel short stays for people in an emergency situation. The situation must be solvable within one or two nights (This means that vouchers are not an option for individuals who have no viable plan to acquire immediate housing. These individuals will instead be referred to the Warming Center in Winona or may be offered transportation to shelters in La Crosse or Rochester.) Applicants must demonstrate that an emergency exists and must demonstrate that staying in a motel will resolve the emergency need. Law Enforcement has the ability to issue lodging vouchers after-hours and on weekends.

Operates a housing stabilization/rapid re-housing program that serves as the primary local homeless intervention in northern Rice County,

• Places one individual or family at a time in an apartment where they may stay for up to 90 days
• Provides food, support with housing search, and coordinates community resources
• Because of increasing demand, priority is given to the most vulnerable clients

It also acts as an access point for Coordinated Entry, where it coordinates with local police and area churches to connect people to a temporary motel shelter when needed after business hours.
