Builds and remodels mortgage-free, fully accessible homes for severely injured United States military veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Each home is customized to meet the veteran's specific physical needs, empowering them to live independently and with dignity.

The Affordable Housing Program partners with the Minnesota Department of Corrections to create affordable housing in West Central Minnesota. Homes are built and modified to meet specific accessibility requests, making them more accessible. A variety of floor plans are available depending on the family's needs. The homes built are durable, energy-efficient, and require minimal maintenance. Housing staff can assist in the steps of purchasing a new home, the mortgage lending process, and refer households to lenders such as the First Time Homebuyer programs and Rural Development programs.

Coordinates professional labor and fundraising to build and donate specially adapted, ADA-compliant custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans and their families, enabling them to rebuild their lives. Each home is provided mortgage-free, with full accessibility features and ongoing support for the veteran.

Provides accessible home modifications including: - Automatic door openers - Bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen remodeling for accessibility - Elevators (residential) - Installation of therapeutic equipment and environmental control devices - Lift Systems: Ceiling lifts Patient lifts Stairlifts Wheelchair platform lifts - Modular ramps - Roll-in showers and low step showers - Transfer aids - Note: Ramps, stairlifts, and basic transfer aids only at the Saint Cloud and Rochester locations

Works with contractors to fund and install wooden and aluminum ramps, grab bars, doors, steps, railings, and decks to ensure a physically accessible home for individuals living with a physical disability.
