Most transitional houses are Single Room Occupancy (SRO), though entire houses may be available for families. Veterans must be able to live independently. The length of stay varies, but the maximum stay is two years. The rent is determined on a sliding scale - no greater than $500/month. All units require a sober environment (no drugs or alcohol on the premises) but does not require sobriety. The only exception is Building 47 on the Minneapolis VA Medical Center Campus as this transitional housing requires sobriety.

- Bridges for Long-Term Homeless Households: Provides temporary housing for individuals and families who meet the definition of long-term homeless and has a serious and persistent mental illness with a referral from Washington County Community Services - Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8): Vouchers assist the tenant in renting a unit from a private landlord. Unit must be affordable and rent must be reasonable for the area. This type of assistance is transferable. It is assigned to the tenant and moves with the tenant so long as the tenant remains income eligible and has not violated any program rules - Public Housing: Operate a 40-unit, one bedroom, apartment complex, Whispering Pines in Forest Lake. Qualifying individuals pay up to 30% of their adjusted monthly income for rent. This type of assistance is not transferable. If the participant moves, the participant loses their assistance. Emergency shelter and transitional housing for homeless families. Residents are given their own private apartment with a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, basic furniture, phone, and television with cable. There are 2 sizes of apartments. Smaller apartments can accommodate 3 - 5 people, and the larger apartments can accommodate 5 - 12 people. Residents have access to a computer resource room with internet access, chapel, free laundry facility, medical clinic, meeting room, outdoor and recreational spaces, and free tutoring services for children. During their stay, residents are provided case management services to help with budgeting skills, goal planning, and referrals to community resources and services. Residents work toward securing daycare, finding a job if they do not already have one, saving money, and finding affordable housing. Residents are not allowed to have pets. They must make arrangements for them before staying at the shelter.

Provides a safe place for minor victims of sexual exploitation to heal while receiving services specific to the complex trauma of being sex trafficked.
