A collaboration between Youthprise and the Venn Foundation to help eligible families and students access affordable afterschool enrichment programs using the Minnesota K-12 Education Tax Credit to pay for educational supports and enrichment including tutoring, music lessons, art classes, and supportive distance learning technology. - Afterschool Activities: Works with service providers across the state to offer more accessible afterschool activities to eligible families. Current offerings include driver's education, fine arts, performance arts, academic enrichment, and tutoring. New activities are continually added; check website for new opportunities. - Distance Learning Technology: Assists families with receiving a Chromebook for distance learning for no cost to eligible families by using both the K-12 Education Tax Credit and scholarship dollars. The Minnesota K-12 Education Credit ("Tax Credit") was created by state law in 1997 to help eligible families pay for afterschool activities, but it relies on eligible families paying for activities up front and then waiting for reimbursement in their tax refund. Waiting for the reimbursement of hundreds, even up to a thousand, dollars can be hard for many families. Minnesota Afterschool Advance (MAA) is able to eliminate this wait for eliglble families - giving them the dollars to enroll in afterschool programs now.
