An area food shelf that provides a 3-day supply of food according to the number of people in the household. Availability of the food shelf is once per month; twice monthly if recommended by Family Services. Depending upon donations received may also provide diapers or baby food.

Services offered:- Confidential emotional and practical support with pregnancy including right to life/pro-life counseling to help create a plan filled with reassurances and hope- Diapers and formula on an emergency basis only. Provides assistance and support for many programs related to creating healthy and equitable food access. Work with clients who are interested in obtaining Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits by assisting with the application process. Administers the SNAP program at four local farmers' markets in Cook, Hibbing, Tower, and Virginia. Provides a variety of services such as:- Arrowhead Grown: A website and facebook page created to promote farmers across the region. It includes dates, times, locations, and details of each farmer's market in northeast Minnesota. The site also includes helpful information for customers using SNAP-EBT, Farmer's Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) vouchers, and Power of Produce (POP) tokens.- Community Food Forest: A large perennial garden made up of berry bushes, grapevines, and fruit trees. It continues to grow each year. Community members are encouraged to participate in maintaining the food forest, and the site is accessible to anyone to harvest.- Farmers Markets: Families utilizing SNAP-EBT can shop at Virginia Market Square, Cook Area Farmers Market, Hibbing Farmers Market, and Tower Farmers Market, and receive a match in dollars. - Food Shelves: Funds food shelves for agencies across Cook, Lake, and Saint Louis County. Provide emergency and short-term food assistance to income-eligible individuals and families who have run out of options to alleviate hunger.- Little Free Pantries: There are three free food pantries located in Virginia at AEOA, Hope Presbyterian Church, Our Saviors Church, and at the Hoyt Lakes Public Library. AEOA maintains the pantry located outside of the AEOA office.- Northeast Minnesota Food Access Guide: Manages the Northeast Minnesota Food Access Guide which lists information on local food shelf hours, locations, grocery financial assistance programs, free meals, and food prep resources.

Provides diapers for families in need. Each family may access the diaper bank up to two times in a 12-month period, per child, depending upon availability.

Provides a family-centered space where caregivers can access help with basic needs such as housing, food, childcare, employment, transportation, and mental health supports, and also helps in navigating complex systems and community services. Packages of diapers are donated by church members. Packages are then distributed to those in need. One bag is allowed per child.

Will open by referral "on-call basis", domestic abuse victims leaving home quickly and not bringing enough clothes, someone in need of diapers, fire or disaster victims. Emergency food shelf providing canned goods and personal hygiene items such as diapers, wipes, toilet paper, laundry soap, toothpaste, shampoo, and more. The distribution of food is based on household size.The food shelf can be accessed more than once a month, depending on the situation.

Provides fresh food and emergency food boxes. Also accepts donations of perishable and nonperishable food items, baby food, diapers, and personal hygiene supplies. Offers the following children's programming:- Baby and Toddler Care Packages: Clients participating in the food shelf may receive a care package for babies and toddlers that includes diapers or pull-ups, wipes, and other items as available, such as onesies, hats, baby lotion, and body wash. Formula, bottles, and baby food may also be available. Care packages are assembled based on diaper size. Not all items are available at all times based on supply.- Birthday Bags: Clients participating in the food shelf may receive a "Birthday Bag" for each child's birthday. Bags are filled with candles, cake decorations, party favors for 6-8 kids, themed plates and napkins, colorful party decorations (table cloths, paper streamers, etc.), and small toys or crafts. Parents may also pick up a birthday cake or cupcakes. Families should notify CEAP when scheduling a food appointment if a child has an upcoming birthday.- LearnStrong Back To School: Provides backpacks filled with school supplies to families in the community through a curbside distribution program. Backpacks are provided and assembled by generous community partners and individual donors.- Toys of Joy Holiday Program: A special event held in December where parents can shop for toys for their children in CEAP's Community Room. Community partners and individual donors provide gifts.

On-site food pantry may be used twice per month. Food delivery appointments may also be available. Essential items available may be diapers, baby formula, shampoo/conditioner, adult briefs, laundry soap, dish soap, paper towels, and toilet paper. Shoppers can shop twice per month. Grocery delivery service is available to local older adults who have mobility or limited transportation options. Grocery deliveries take place monthly.
