Provides violence prevention, intervention, support, outreach services, and leadership opportunities for youth in residential and community settings. Provides a variety of services to youth of all genders who have experienced relationship violence, sexual assault or exploitation, stalking, or homelessness. Programs include:

Movement for Violence Prevention (MVP): Leadership development activities to assist youth-led community engagement, skill enhancement, peer connections, and tools for change to prevent youth violence.

Inspiring Youth: A year-long, intensive, community-based program for youth ages 10 - 17 and their families who have been impacted by violence. Youth workers provide comprehensive and culturally responsive mentorship, support, and access to services, activities, and leadership opportunities.

Youth Site-Based and Community-Based Housing: Transitional housing for youth and young adults who are victims of violence and exploitation, including sex trafficking. Safety planning and support are provided.

Voices in Prevention (VIP): A 6-week violence prevention curriculum serving middle and high school students. Curriculum might also include support groups, one-on-one sessions, peer mediation, and service learning.

Youth Safety Plans: Specialized safety plans for youth

NorthStar Youth Outreach Center: A drop-in center for homeless youth offering advocacy, safety planning, and connections to additional community resources. The center also offers:

- Assistance with housing

- Assistance with career and education planning

- Computer lab

- Counseling

- Creative art spaces

- Food and snacks

- Laundry access

- Supplies and clothing

Provides individualized supportive services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Services include:

- 24 hours/7 days a week crisis line

- Assistance with writing protective orders

- Care and Share Corner: Offers free clothing, blankets, school supplies, and toiletries

- Crisis intervention

- Emergency hotel/motel safe homing

- Emergency financial assistance

- Personal advocacy

- Safety planning

- Specialized information and referral

- Support groups

- Transportation and accompaniment to court or the hospital for a forensic exam

Provides a daily drop-in and resource center serving those experiencing homelessness and those at-risk of homelessness. Provides access to basic needs such as:

- Food (shelf stable foods)

- Hygiene supplies

- Phone and computer access

- Referrals to organizations such as Southern Minnesota Legal Services (SMRLS), state and county housing programs, and Coordinated Entry assessments

- Respite room and lounge space

Basic needs services operate on a client-choice model and strive to assist families in achieving self-sufficiency and empowerment through providing food and clothing. Clients of the food shelves or clothing closet are requested to bring a few bags to take their items home. - Clothing closet provides clothing and small household items - Food shelf is available by appointment - Delivers food packages, free of charge, directly to clients that live within 10 miles of the area food shelf. Complete the online food shelf order form. Delivery priority is given to seniors and health-related homebound persons. - Will accept donations of food, toys, hygiene items, and small household items

Drop-in center for homeless youth:

​- Housing Hub: Connects youth experiencing homelessness or at risk of being homeless with a Housing Specialist to provide housing problem solving. Housing Specialists can assist the youth with practical solutions, identify sources, alternatives, and mediate conflict resolution between friends or family. The initial access point to be connected with a Housing Specialist is short-term with a 30-day timeframe. After 30 days initial contact, households with no other pathways identified will be connected to a Housing Assessor and placed on the Housing Registry. - Staff help youth get help with employment and housing searches, connect to resources, and receive basic need items (clean clothes, food, sleeping bags, and toiletries)

Provides help in finding safe, suitable housing and connects to community resources to navigate life’s challenges. Social services include: - Case management - Educational support - Housing referrals - Job search assistance - Legal support - Mental health care; mental health counseling available on-site through community collaborations Coordinated Entry Assessments: - Provides an assessment to eligible individuals that will place them on a list for housing options Amenities available: - Clothing Closet - Computers and wi-fi - Food - Hygiene supplies and snacks - Laundry - Showers

Provides students, families, and community members with access to information and support from community agencies addressing basic needs such as food, clothing, energy assistance, shelter, and healthcare. The resource rooms maintain limited supplies of clothing, personal household items, and food for immediate access. They accept donations of winter gear (coats, gloves, mittens, hats, scarves), sweatpants, socks, t-shirts, and gift cards (Visa, Target, Walmart, gas, Cub Foods, etc.).

Provides a means for churches and other organizations to work together to match up volunteers to meet an individual's or family's needs. Provides:

- Baby Care Ministry: Helps young families by providing infant and toddler high chairs, baby cribs, pack-n-plays, and strollers

- Build-A-Bed: Builds and gives single beds and bunk beds. Also delivers them directly to homes and assembles them in the room.

- Bike Ministry: Provides bicycles for adults and children

- Clean Sweep: Helps families with basic cleaning supplies such as paper towels, trash bags, sponges, all-purpose spray, toilet bowl cleaner, and more

- Clothing Ministry: Provides essential clothing through Trending Upward Thrift Shoppe

- Diaper Ministry: Helps young families by providing diapers, pull-ups, and wipes for babies and toddlers

- Food and Gas Cards: Provides gift cards for food and gas

- FurniShare: Matches up donations of household goods and furniture (including beds, mattresses/box springs (free of stains, rips, and tears), dressers, kitchen tables/chairs, and living room furniture) with people who need them. Also provides monthly furniture sales.

- Kitchen Essentials: Offers a basic supply of silverware, dishes, cups, and cookware to individuals and families

- LAM Vac Valet: Donates and repairs vacuum cleaners in good condition

- Loads of Love: Cares for families in need by providing laundry detergent, fabric sheets, dish, and dishwasher soap

- Personal Care: Provides necessary personal items including soap, shampoo, razors, toilet paper, deodorant, feminine products, and more

- The Birthday Closet Ministry: Provides supplies for children's birthdays

- The Linen Closet: Provides new or used blankets, sheets, pillowcases, towels, and washcloths

- Towel Ministry: Provides bath towels, kitchen towels, and washcloths

- Winter Wear Ministry: Provides boots, coats, hats, mittens, and scarves

Offers gently used clothing and household items at affordable prices. Accepts tax-deductible donations of clothing, shoes, outerwear, jewelry, kitchen and household goods (but excludes items like electronics, furniture, cribs, or large appliances), and relies heavily on volunteers to sort, merchandise, and staff the store.

Services provided: - Clothing: Offers general clothing items limited to 10 items per family member per month - Dental Clinic: Open to individuals without dental insurance. Also helps individuals with resumes and searching for a job

Offers low prices on men's, women's, children's, and infant's clothing and accessories. By shopping at The Clothes Shop, individuals are supporting the daily fundraiser for the overall operations of Winona Volunteer Services.

In emergency situations, individuals can come to the office and ask about how to access free clothing from the Clothes Shop.

​Provision of items to individuals and households in need of thrift store merchandise

Drop-in center for youth who are homeless, youth in crisis or sexually exploited youth offering individual advocacy and case management, and referrals to a network of services which are designed to achieve self-sufficiency, connectedness and self-empowerment. YouthLink houses the Youth Opportunity Center, a collaboration of agencies providing services to young people in one location. Partner agencies provide services that include housing stability, health and wellness, crisis/basic needs/drop-in, education, and employment. Services include:

- Access to computers, phones, and mail

- Community resource referrals to shelter and housing

- Basic needs services: Hot meals and bag lunches, clothing closet, showers, laundry, and connections to emergency shelters. Assists with connecting youth to Hennepin County support services.

- Financial assistance to obtain vital documentation including social security card, birth certificate, and/or state ID. Application assistance is available for food stamps and Medical Assistance. - Job search and employment assistance and education assistance and resources

- FHPAP application assistance only for eligible youth in Hennepin County seeking rent assistance. FHPAP does not provide direct assistance. Hennepin County is responsible for determining eligibility and distributing rent assistance funds. - On-site health clinic and health care support including referrals to mental health and substance abuse services - Street Outreach Program: Caseworkers go out into the community, locate homeless youth and inform them of services that are available to them. May provide the youth with clothing, safe sex information and resources, bus cards, etc.

Provides clothes and small household items. Limited number of coats for adults on a first-come, first-served basis. Accepts donations of new and used clothing and small household items in good condition.
