A free service which teaches cancer patients hands-on cosmetic techniques to help them cope with appearance - related to side effects from chemotherapy and radiation treatments, provided by certified/trained cosmotologists. Group classes and one-on-one services are available. Registration necessary.
Job Readiness Program Designed to help men prepare for their interview to enter or re-enter the workforce. - Image consultation consisting of appropriate outfit and haircut - Interview clothing - Pre-interview counseling Mentoring Network Provides individualized counseling to help clients navigate everyday barriers and challenges. Men are paired with mentors for 6 months and tackle specific tasks, including, but not limited to: - Addressing child support orders - Credit and debt management - Engaging in healthy lifestyles - Resume and job search techniques Professional Development Series offers weekly group workshops facilitated by Nehemiah project staff focusing on 3 main developmental categories. - Financial literacy - Job search techniques - Life skills development

Individuals can access the food shelf twice a month. Amount of food provided depends on number of people in a household. Provides American food and specialty ethnic food for Africans and Hispanics. Fresh food and liquid nutrition supplements are also provided. Mobile food shelf available once a month in front of Silver Lake Apartment office, 1515 3rd Avenue NE. Also provides eye exam and foot/nail care.

Resources: Technology support (Tech Tuesdays - volunteer-led assistance Tuesdays, 11 am - 2 pm) and referrals, free tax preparation (VITA), Medicare workshops (during open enrollment), legal kiosk, medical equipment loan closet, and Per Mar medical alert system setup. Volunteer Opportunities: Casual volunteer, Driver, friendly visitor/caller, fundraising volunteer, garden helper, governance volunteer, pet therapy volunteer, program assistant or leader, tax helper, and tech support volunteer.
