Provides alternate dispute resolution services, including conflict coaching, mediation, meeting and restorative services and conflict resolution training. Services are provided by staff and trained volunteers who are residents of the community. Sessions are scheduled at a time and location convenient to parties including night and weekend hours. Dispute resolution services are available for a wide range of disputes including but not limited to: - Family conflicts - Elder care issues - Juvenile restorative justice diversion programming - Neighbor conflicts - Landlord/tenant disputes, pre-file eviction - Unmarried couple separation - Post divorce and parenting time - Roommate disagreements - Employer/employee - Business/consumer - Conflict between students in school - Conflict within neighborhood/community groups, boards of directors, businesses, condo-townhouse associations and co-ops Note: Agency is a member organization of Community Mediation of Minnesota which is a statewide single entry point for conflict resolution services. Clients can Request a Mediation via Community Mediation of Minnesota's website or contact any member organization directly.

Juvenile offense program that is an alternative to court. The goal strives to satisfy the needs of all involved parties. Victims and offenders are placed in active roles to work together to empower the victims in their search for closure, while impressing upon offenders the impact of their behavior. Chemical Awareness Program (CAP) ? - Provides a consequence for juveniles who are experimenting with alcohol and other drugs - Goal: To describe the problems that result from chemical use and generate discussion on developing healthy attitudes toward chemicals. (Two sessions, one and a half hours each). Theft Awareness Program (TAP) - Provides a consequence for juveniles who engage in the illegal act of shoplifting. - Goal: Reduce the recurrence of theft by helping participants become more aware of their motivation for the offense, the legal and civil consequences, and alternatives available to stealing. (One session, one and a half hours). Tobacco Awareness Class (TAC) - Provides a consequence for juveniles who engage in the illegal use of tobacco products. - Goal: Provide information regarding the health and legal consequences of tobacco use. (One session, one and a half hours).
Provides a system of services to adults and juveniles. Services include: ?- Services for Adults: Conditional release, court intake, pre-sentence investigation, restitution, home monitoring, work release, sentencing to service, community work service, probation supervision, restorative conferencing, and cognitive behavioral interventions - Services for Juveniles: Court intake, predisposition investigations, residential and nonresidential programs, New Chance Extended Day Treatment, community work service, probation supervision, detention services, restitution, after school programs, drug court, in home counseling, restorative conferencing, and cognitive behavioral interventions

- Holds juveniles offenders accountable in a timely manner - Offender must admit that they have committed the offense they have been charged with before appearing in teen court - Offender and offender's parents or legal guardian must agree to appear in teen court, follow set procedures, and complete consequences set by teen court - Offenders who appear in teen court and successfully complete all assigned consequences will have charges dismissed from record - Teen court jurors recruited from 8th to 12th grades in Watonwan County - Teen volunteers must be trained in the teen court process, including types of questioning, procedures, types of consequences, and oath of confidentiality - Teen jurors are not responsible for determining guilt or innocence - Jurors deliberate in private to determine sentences (consequences)
Circle brings people together and provides a process for organizing effective group communication, relationship building, decision-making, and conflict resolution. Restorative practices help create a community that honors the importance of relationships amongst all members in the community and repair relationships when harm has been caused. - Circle of Hope Circle of support for those working towards finding and maintaining ongoing recovery from substance abuse. - Family & Community Circle Creates support networks for youth transitioning home from placement and works with youth and families with a variety of familial matters that may be leading to placement or family conflict. - Juvenile Circle Sentencing An alternative response to a crime that promotes healing and safety for everyone. Included in the Circle process are those harmed by crime/negative behavior, those who commit crime, and the community. - Other Circles As needed (i.e. schools, parenting, foster parent, etc.)
