Handles and accepts complaints of welfare fraud by recipients of public assistance programs. The agency investigates complaints and determines whether fraud was committed pursuant to Minnesota Statutes.

Fraud Prevention staff accepts reports and handles the preliminary investigation of a public assistance fraud complaint. After the complaint is received, an investigation is conducted to determine if the complaint should be forwarded to the County Attorney's office.

Suspected fraud or abuse should be reported if the individuals are receiving benefits, health care providers working with the Minnesota Health Care Programs, or childcare providers receiving childcare assistance funds.
