  • Short-term support counseling for individuals who have been sexually assaulted, including individuals used in prostitution and sex trafficking. Counseling is also available for family members and friends of sexual violence victims.
  • One-to-one peer counseling
  • Hospital Counseling/Advocacy: Counselors are available to provide counseling, offer information, provide options, and support sexual assault victims at the hospital when they come in for an evidentiary exam. If the victim wishes to make a report to law enforcement, the counselor will remain to provide support. If, upon arriving at the hospital, the sexual assault advocate is told that the victim does not wish to have an advocate, a packet of written information will be left for the victim, and the advocate will leave. Advocates provide support to family and friends of victims in the hospital.

  • Basic mediator training, advanced skills, in-service workshops, and peer mediator training
  • Mediation: Structured dispute resolution process in which a neutral third party assists people in reaching a settlement of differences. It is a voluntary process that provides an opportunity for all parties to express and resolve issues which may be of concern to them. It requires all parties to enter into a dialogue with good faith and a desire to reach a mutually acceptable agreement.

Types of Cases Handled: Neighborhood problems, tenant/landlord, business/consumer, employer/employees, post-divorce visitation, victim/offender, family communication, elder issues, school/teacher/student/parent, bullying, etc. Mediation and Restorative Services is a member organization of Community Mediation of Minnesota which is a statewide single entry point for conflict resolution services.
