Minnesota Disability Law Center provides the following services: Protection and Advocacy for Assistive Technology Advocacy for people with disabilities who are having problems with assistive technology devices or services (e.g. power wheelchairs, augmentative communication devices). Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Traumatic Brain Injuries Advocacy for people who have had traumatic brain injuries and need legal assistance on issues related to abuse or neglect, civil rights, access to community-based services, health care coverage, discrimination in public accommodations and services, and special education services. Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities Advocacy for people with developmental disabilities who need legal assistance on issues related to abuse and neglect, civil rights, access to community-based services, health care coverage, discrimination in public accommodations and services, and/or appropriate special education services. Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness Advocacy for people with mental illness who need legal assistance on issues related to abuse and neglect, civil rights, access to community-based services, health care, discrimination in public accommodations and services, and/or special education services. Service priority is given to people residing in care or treatment facilities. Protection and Advocacy of Individual Rights Advocacy for people with disabilities who need legal assistance due to discrimination and/or problems accessing government programs and government buildings (parks, schools), public services, public accommodations, housing, transportation, health care, and insurance. Client Assistance Project (CAP) Advocacy for people with disabilities who are having problems with agencies funded under the Rehabilitation Act, such as Minnesota's Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) and its State Services for the Blind (SSB). Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security (PABSS) Advocacy for people with disabilities who are Social Security beneficiaries (SSI and/or SSDI) in their efforts to secure or keep employment. Protection and Advocacy for Voting Access (PAVA) Education, outreach, and advocacy to ensure the full participation of persons with disabilities in the electoral process. Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Representative Payees Reviews of representative payees and beneficiaries throughout Minnesota, working under the guidance of the Social Security Administration.

Developmental Disabilities
Provides legal information and advice to people dealing with cancer either their own or that of a family member. Assists with: Employment issues including time off from work and accommodations Social security disability Estate planning including wills, power of attorney, and health care directives Insurance coverage denials and billing issues Referrals to other organizations as needed depending on client situation Additional legal assistance dependent on situation, client income, and volunteer lawyer availability Does NOT provide any services whatsoever for criminal law issues or family law issues (divorce, child custody).

Self-Advocates Minnesota (SAM): A statewide network to help people with developmental disabilities know their rights and demand those rights through personal and group action. There are six SAM regions; contact information for each region can be found online. Remembering with Dignity: Organizes to replace numbered grave markers at state institutions with proper headstones, and remember people buried there with dignity and respect. Provides networking opportunities to connect with others promoting self-advocacy for people with developmental and other disabilities. Assists people with disabilities who are working or considering going to work with clear information about the effect of work on Social Security, Medical Assistance, Food Stamps, subsidized housing and other benefits through: - Benefits Analysis, a written plan that explains how work affects benefits, including work incentives, health care options, overall financial situation, tracking wages and benefits and ongoing follow-up and support - Community education presentations on how work affects government benefits received by people with disabilities - Telephone hotline to answer questions and problem-solve issues related to Social Security Disability Insurance, Supplemental Security Income, Medical Assistance for people with disabilities or other government benefits
