Legal Advocacy for Sexual Assault Victims - Program for Aid to Victims of Sexual Assault - PAVSA
Legal services and representation provided to victims as they interact with the various systems that may be related to sexual assault. These include the criminal justice system, law enforcement, governmental entities, social services, civil attorneys and others. An attorney and legal advocate work specifically with victim/survivors on the sometimes complicated issues that can arise as a result of sexual violence.
Legal services for victims of sexual assault including:
- Applying for a protection order, known as an Order for Protection (OFP) or Harassment Restraining Orders (HRO)
- Applying for Crime Victim Reparations (reimbursement for expenses due to the violence)
- Applying for the Safe at Home Address Confidentiality Program
- Assistance Writing Victim Impact Statements
- Attending court and campus hearings
- Ending a lease due to sexual violence
- Follow up interviews with law enforcement or educational institutions
- Legal advice and representation in civil legal matters including:
- Divorce, child custody, and paternity

Free Divorce Clinic - Scott County Library
Offered by the Scott County Law Library, Minnesota Justice Foundation (law students from Hamline, St. Thomas, University of Minnesota, and William Mitchell), and local volunteer attorneys. Law students, under the supervision of practicing attorneys, assist participants in using the Minnesota Self-Help Center I-Can program to fill out divorce paperwork. The I-Can program is an online form tool that asks the user questions and creates the forms needed to start a divorce. Participants have the opportunity to submit their paperwork to the Self-Help Center for review before filing.

Crisis and Basic Needs Drop-In Center - YouthLink
Drop-in center for youth who are homeless, youth in crisis or sexually exploited youth offering individual advocacy and case management, and referrals to a network of services which are designed to achieve self-sufficiency, connectedness and self-empowerment. YouthLink houses the Youth Opportunity Center, a collaboration of agencies providing services to young people in one location. Partner agencies provide services that include housing stability, health and wellness, crisis/basic needs/drop-in, education, and employment. Services include:
- Access to computers, phones, and mail
- Community resource referrals to shelter and housing
- Basic needs services: Hot meals and bag lunches, clothing closet, showers, laundry, and connections to emergency shelters. Assists with connecting youth to Hennepin County support services.
- Financial assistance to obtain vital documentation including social security card, birth certificate, and/or state ID. Application assistance is available for food stamps and Medical Assistance.
- Job search and employment assistance and education assistance and resources

RHMS - Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services: ARHMS clients meet in person with their provider once a week or every two weeks for 1 - 6 hours minimum, depending on client need.
Provides a range of services that helps an individual develop and enhance psychiatric stability, which include skill building in the areas of:
- Basic social, living, and parenting skills building
- Budgeting/money management
- Crisis assistance (as needed) and develop relapse prevention skills
- Coping skills education
- Employment and/or education related skills (GED/Resume building/anxiety reduction)
- Healthy lifestyles and household management
- Interpersonal communication/boundary building
TCM - Targeted Case Management: TCM clients meet with their provider 1 - 2 times a month and can coordinate services by phone or telehealth.
Provides a range of services that help the client remain in the community independently and assist clients to:
- Access social service agencies (make referrals, complete paperwork for programs)
- Assistance in applying for financial resources
- Maintain housing benefits and/or find new housing

Provides Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) outreach and application assistance. SNAP, formerly known as Food Stamps, is designed to assist low-income individuals in accessing nutritious food from grocery retail outlets, as well as farmers' markets. Programs geared toward helping Cambodian elders and other southeast Asians in the following areas:
- Applying for public benefits
- English instruction
- Citizenship classes, INS interviews and immigration assistance
- Healthy eating promotion which reconnects participants with the eating habits of their home countries through nutrition education, development of community gardens, and meals served three days a week from a local restaurant. Serves elders from the Cambodian, Chinese, and Karen communities.

- Information and assistance in applying for financial aid for post secondary education and help filling out FAFSA online
- Referral to community agencies and services
- Workshops on topics such as college survival skills, financial assistance for post secondary education, career decision making, etc.
