Early Head Start and Head Start - United Community Action Partnership
Early Head Start provides a home-based option for families, while Head Start takes place in a classroom setting. Activities planned for children are designed to prepare them for Kindergarten. Services typically include:
- Weekly one hour home visits for Early Head Start. Head Start classes are held four to five days a week, three and a half hours per day.
- Cognitive/Early Math: Children learn to county, describe shapes, measure, and create patterns
- Different Approaches to Learning: Children learn to complete work, show creativity, and develop interest about learning
- Language/Literacy: Children increase vocabulary, use full sentences in conversations, rhyme words, gain knowledge of the alphabet, use books, and learn to write their name
- Physical Development: Children learn to balance and control large muscles to ride trikes, climb, and run with coordination. Children will use small muscles to write and draw.
- Socialization: Child and families with infants and toddlers participate in a socialization experience facilitated by the home visitor
- Transportation: Provides transportation to families who reside in the cities of Jackson, Marshall, Mountain Lake, Redwood Falls, and Tracy
