Anoka/Washington County Head Start is a comprehensive early childhood development program. Program options: - Early Head Start Child Care Partnership classrooms are for children ages 6 weeks - 36 months in center-based partner locations and ages 6 months - 48 months at family child care partner locations. Hours depend on the needs of families. - Home Based programming is available for pregnant individuals and children ages birth - 5 years old. Head Start teachers make weekly visits with the family bringing learning experiences and developmental activities. Center socialization days occur twice a month that provide socialization for children, and parent education opportunities and peer support for parents. - Center Based Part Day Part Year is for children ages 3 - 5 years old who attend Monday - Thursday 6 hours per day between September - May - Center Based Full Day Full Year is for children ages 3 - 5 years old who attend Monday - Thursday 6 hours per day between September - August All enrolled families are assigned a Family Service Worker to assist them in family goal setting and to provide resources to help the family meet their goal and become self-sufficient.

Services may include: - Early childhood screening for children ages 3 - 5: Screenings will check the child's vision, hearing, height, weight, immunization status, thinking, communication skills, and social and emotional development. Parents will have the opportunity to discuss the results of the screening with a Family Center staff member. - Early childhood special education: Early intervention services are available for young children who show developmental delays in the following areas of speech/language, motor skills, social/emotional skills, cognitive skills, and functional skills. Program includes: - Education: School readiness goals in the areas of language, literacy, math, science, health, and social-emotional skills ?- Family goal-setting ??- Health and safety ??- Nutrition ?- Social and emotional health ??- Social services ??- Screenings and follow-up for health, development, and behavior ??- Services for children with disabilities ??- Transition services Early Head Start ?The program includes weekly home visits with parents and their child(ren), teaching and partnering with them in the areas of child development, health, mental health, family health, and development and family resources. Weekly home visits include: ?- Assisting pregnant women with accessing comprehensive prenatal care to promote healthy development and a safe delivery. ?- Information and referrals to other community agencies as needed. ?- Parenting information and screenings to ensure that children are developmentally on track. ?- Playgroup sessions are provided throughout the year where parents and children can build friendships and discuss interesting parenting topics. ?- Supporting parent's efforts to meet the challenges of parenting. ?- Working with parents to ensure that children have access to quality health care, including dental, vision, speech, hearing, nutritional, mental health screenings, and physical exams and immunizations. Pregnant women and children up to 3 years old may apply for this year-long opportunity.

The School District Office provides the administration of the public school services for all students in the school district. Services include: - Child-find services which assess pre-school children to identify any developmental concerns as well as the child's readiness for kindergarten - Early intervention services for pre-school children (beginning at 3 years old) with identified developmental delays providing special preschool services, therapies, or other needed supports for the child - Creating with the parents an IEP plan for children with special education needs and ensuring that the services required by the plan are provided for the student - Student Counseling Services, providing counseling and guidance for all students in the district in the areas of personal, social academic, and career concerns - Homeless Liaison, providing the necessary services and support for any student in the district who is homeless (this includes providing transportation to and from school as well as other support that may be needed by the student)
