Hiawatha Valley Education District offers supportive services for students and staff at participating schools. Services include: assistive technology, in-school therapy services, school psychologists, a Spanish interpreter/cultural liaison, and special education coordinators. In addition the agency can provide teachers for students with hearing or visual impairments. An audiologist is also available. HVED also provides alternative teaching methods for students with learning of behavior difficulties. The agency can provide special education assessment and consultation services for school staff regarding students and also provides workshops and seminars for school staff focused on meeting the needs of students with special needs in the school system.

Offers an array of specialized services for students diagnosed with learning disabilities and/or attention disorders, including: Diagnostic Services: Psychologists provide psycho-educational evaluations that offer clear diagnoses and specific educational recommendations for struggling students. Summer Program: Focusing on classes with a low student teacher ratio within the core academic subject areas plus speech, recreational, computer and social skills classes. Tutoring: Provides tutoring services in reading, spelling, written expression, math and study skills for students with learning disabilities as well as students who are behind in their studies. Career and Post-Secondary Coaching: For young adults who have learning issues and/or ADHD. Counselors explore specific interests and abilities and recommend post-secondary options, including college and potential careers. Assistive Technology: Provides assessments to determine which technologies are helpful for students in school and in life. Also offers assistive technology coaching to help individuals establish fundamental studying skills. Education Consulting Services: Provides consulting services for parents to help identify their child's strengths and weaknesses and can provide specific recommendations for successful support in the classroom.
