MICC's College Program is a three-year opportunity for accepted participants to live on-campus in an apartment with their peers to learn independent living skills, vocational skills, and social skills. Through experiential learning and integration into the surrounding community, students gain valuable experiences and begin to develop their own community within an ever-changing world setting. Students are assessed on their growth and mastery of skills over the course of the three-year program, which takes a step-down approach to instruction, to prepare students for a high level of independence upon graduation.
MICC College program curriculum competency areas include:
- Social Engagement (personal behavior management, social activities and outings, leisure, and more)
- Homecare (cleaning, kitchen safety, laundry, and safety in the home)
- Personal Supports (advocating and accessing supports, appointment management, money management, and more)
- Health & Wellness (food preparation, menu planning, grocery shopping, physical fitness, and more)
- Community (public transportation utilization, financial literacy, accessing the community, and more)
- Medication Management, if applicable (use, knowledge, and administration)
