The Child Support Division assists with: - Locating parents. - Establishing parentage. - Establishing and enforcing court orders for child support, medical support, and child care support. - Reviewing and modifying court orders for support. - Adjusting court orders based on the cost-of-living index. - Works with other states to enforce support when one parent does not live in Minnesota. - Collecting and processing payments. Minnesota Child Support Online: www.childsupport.dhs.state.mn.us/ Minnesota Child Support Online is an interactive web site developed by the State of Minnesota to provide child support participants with information about their case(s). NOTE: Either parent of a child may get certain child support services. Parents who do not receive public assistance can apply for services at their county child support office for a one-time $25 service fee. Parents who receive public assistance for a child whose other parent does not live with them are automatically referred for services and are not charged a service fee.

Child and Family Health Services support families with the following services: - Breastfeeding classes and resources: breastfeeding support services are available in home, at the Horizon Public Health Office Alexandria main site, and via telephone. - Child and Teen Checkups (C&TC): complete head-to-toe health and development checkups for persons under 21 years old. - Child passenger safety: specialists can answer questions regarding child safety seats and check your car seats. - Family Home Visiting: registered nurses provide a variety of home visiting programs including prenatal, postpartum and ongoing parenting support services. - Follow Along Program: for parents of children ages birth - 5 at no cost to learn if your child is talking, moving, playing and developing on track for his/her age.

MNChoices is a web-based application that is comprehensive and integrates assessment and support planning for people who need long-term services and supports. The assessment takes a person-centered approach to ensure services meet each individual's strengths, goals, preferences, and assessed needs. The program includes assessing what level of service is needed for care such as homemaker, home health aide, adult day care. Services include: Early intervention visits, Information and education about local long term care options, Information about public programs that can help pay for programs, Pre-admission screenings prior to nursing home admission, and Transition assistance for people who want to return to community settings after admission to a facility. NOTE: Community or in-person screening is required in some situations to determine eligibility for waiver services. The assessment through MNChoices replaces the following assessment tools: Developmental Disability Screening, Long-term Care Consultation Assessment, Personal Care Assistance Assessment, and Home Care Nursing Assessment. The assessment determines eligibility for publicly funded programs and services including: Alternative Care Program, Brain Injury Waiver, Community Alternative Care Waiver, Community Alternatives for Disabled Individuals Waiver, Developmental Disability Waiver, Elderly Waiver, Case management for people with developmental disabilities, and Semi-Independent Living Services.

In Minnesota, expungement is primarily used for criminal and eviction records. The Expungement clinic provided by this library deals with criminal expungements. Expungement clinics are intended to be a one-time event to assist those who are representing themselves in the courts. Expungement clinics are held in January, March, May, July, September, and November. This clinic is an opportunity for a brief advice consultation with a volunteer criminal defense attorney to ask questions about whether criminal expungement is a viable option for an individual's needs.
