Minnesota's version of TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). Statewide MFIP helps families work their way out of poverty by providing temporary cash and food benefits to eligible families. Cash Programs: Help individuals and families meet their basic needs until they can support themselves. Individuals will get an EBT card that they can use like a debit card. The most common cash programs:

- Conducts hearings involving allegations of program fraud.
- Conducts hearings involving individuals who were disqualified from working in DHS-licensed facilities.

Provides triage services for situations as needed and reviews county case information. Services include:
- Assistance with housing and basic needs
- Community Collaborative Fund: Initial assessment for households at risk of homelessness. Individuals must have been denied by the Saint Louis County EGA or EA program, or have already used EGA/EA within the last 18 months. ESG (Emergency Solutions Grant) funds are determined to be used for rent, rental deposit, mortgage, or utilities. NOTE: There is currently no funding at this time.
- Forms and certificate assistance for county programs such as SNAP, WIC, EGA/EA, GA, child care assistance, MFIP, Minnesota Supplemental Aid, or Housing Support. Also, follow up with issues regarding MNsure applications.
- Referrals to community services, mental health, and chemical dependency services outside of Saint Louis County
