Offers educational programs such as: - Best Buy Teen Tech Center: A drop-in space for teens ages 14 - 18 to be creative and develop new skills. The center helps youth expand their interests and discover career paths through technology-based projects in programming, film-making, music production, graphic design, and much more. - Citizenship Classes: Prepare students to pass the United States Citizenship exam successfully. Classes are taught in English only. The class topics include the process of becoming a citizen, United States history and government, interview preparation and practice, study materials, and other resources. - English Language Classes (ESL): Classes open to anyone who would like to improve their English skills. Students learn how to read, write, speak, and understand the English language while also gaining essential life skills that will better prepare them to navigate life in the United States. Classes are offered online on Zoom. - GED Preparation Classes: Help students prepare to take the GED (High School Equivalent) exam. Classes cover all testing subjects, including math, social studies, science, and language arts (grammar and writing). Classes are offered in person, while Math courses are offered online on Zoom. - Youth in Action (YA!): A Latine-focused youth program for 9th - 12th grade students in the Twin Cities Area providing mentorship, leadership development, skill-building opportunities, college preparation, community service-learning projects, and innovative programs.

Children and teens programs designed to be meaningful and fun, most at little or no cost. Programs include: Early Childhood: Provides activities and programs including arts, creative play, outdoor exploration, discovery, and hands-on activities. Many recreation-based, preschool-age programs that will engage and stimulate children's intellectual curiosity while imparting social skills, setting the foundation for a successful transition into Kindergarten. School-age Childcare: Rec Plus provides school-age childcare for children in grades K-6 at neighborhood recreation centers. Rec Plus operates before and after school, on school release days and during the summer, depending on recreation center. Activities include games and sports, arts and crafts, homework help, field trips and nutritious snacks. Must register at Rec Plus location (no online registration). Please contact the recreation center for availability. Teen Programs: - ?Youthline Outreach Mentorship engages youth ages 12-17 in positive leadership experiences and recreational activities while connecting them to adult mentors in the parks. - Teen Teamworks is a summer employment and educational program for youth ages 14-18. - Nite Owlz provides extended teen programming at various recreation centers from 8-11 pm on Friday and Saturday nights. Activities may include open gym, cooking, computer labs and more. - IDEAWERKS is for youth ages 12-18 to learn multimedia production; record audio and video information on a digital media workstation; study music basics and computer software to create music tracks and videos; and produce and record individual multimedia projects. - Village Parks is a unique cultural, linguistic diversity and leadership program for youth ages 14-18. - Sports Leagues: Learn new skills and friendships in a fun and safe environment guided by knowledgeable and supportive coaches. - Pop-Up Parks burst with music, art, games, crafts, books, dance and more, and "pop-up" in neighborhoods throughout Minneapolis. - Youth Advisory Council is a select group of youth leaders to guide and influence recreation programs, youth employment and athletic decisions. Camps: Provides youth sport camps, day camps and specialty camps School Release Day Activities: During Minneapolis Public School's release days children can enjoy a variety of indoor activities, outdoor adventure, field trips and camps Free Meals: Recreation Centers throughout the Minneapolis park system offer free meals year-round to youth ages 18 and younger. Times and types of meals served (breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner) vary by site and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Select sites serve reduced-waste meals, focusing on reducing both food and packaging waste.

Grace Place Outreach is a mentoring program for pregnant persons and families offering support and connections to services to help families live spiritually wholesome, safe, healthy, and productive lives and thrive within the community. Services may include: access to baby clothing and maternity clothing (limited); information on nutrition and meal planning, parenting, prenatal care, budgeting, and exercise; arts and crafts instruction; help with seeking employment; and support groups. People interested in serving as mentors for clients are welcomed.

Direct services provided to youth and families include these core elements: - Literacy focus: literacy interventions are customized to meet the unique needs of each child. - Caring adult tutors: highly-trained, culturally-competent volunteers provide a consistent, 4-hour weekly dosage of programming throughout the year. - Social asset development: youth-driven service learning projects are designed to build competence, confidence, connections, and community. - Strong family engagement: parents are equipped with new skills that bolster their role in advancing their children's learning. - Youth voice: youth are empowered to set behavior expectations, work with their tutors to develop their own goals, and shape program offerings through evaluation. - 21st century skill-building: the program works to build digital literacy and integrates technology, such as laptops and e-readers, to enhance literacy.

Child Protection Services: Conducts child protection investigations on all neglect and abuse complaints within the Band's jurisdiction. The program provides ongoing child welfare case management and prevention services to Band members, first-generation descendants, and American Indians within the Band's designated service area. The Indian Child Welfare program monitors the welfare of all Band children and first-generation descendants outside the Band's designated service area under the Indian Child Welfare Act. Foster Care: Licenses and trains foster care providers within the Band's designated service area. Any American Indian or community member with strong ties to the Mille Lacs Band may apply to become a licensed foster care provider. Independent Living and Life Skills program: Provides child welfare support services to Band members, first-generation descendants, and American Indians who are 14 - 21 years old and live within the designated service area of the Band. It also provides independent living assistance to Band members, first-generation descendants, and American Indians who are 16 - 21 years old and live within the Band's designated service area. An activity-based mentoring program that matches at-promise youth with volunteer adult mentors who participate together in goal-centered, one-on-one relationships. - Youth are matched with their mentors for one year and meet weekly for 2 - 4 hours. Throughout the one-year program, the mentors and youth develop goals (one physical activity, and one academic), have new experiences, and attend a variety of events with other mentors and mentees of the program. - Youth and their mentors attend agency events based on four programming pillars: Healthy Living, Lifelong Learning, Emotional Development, and Community Connectivity. - Youth and their families receive case management/support, and referrals for services. Mentors also have a network of support throughout their year of volunteering.

Ge-Niigaanizijig: A comprehensive after-school mentoring program with four main components or pillars: culture, community, career, and education. The Education Department employs youth mentors for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The Aanjibimaadizing Program: In partnership with the Department of Administration, the program employs teen mentors to work with students from ages 7 - 24 years
Job Readiness Program Designed to help men prepare for their interview to enter or re-enter the workforce. - Image consultation consisting of appropriate outfit and haircut - Interview clothing - Pre-interview counseling Mentoring Network Provides individualized counseling to help clients navigate everyday barriers and challenges. Men are paired with mentors for 6 months and tackle specific tasks, including, but not limited to: - Addressing child support orders - Credit and debt management - Engaging in healthy lifestyles - Resume and job search techniques Professional Development Series offers weekly group workshops facilitated by Nehemiah project staff focusing on 3 main developmental categories. - Financial literacy - Job search techniques - Life skills development

Eligibility requirements: first come, first served basis; funds are limited Homemaking Services - Assist individuals in managing household activities including housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and shopping Information and Referral - Up-to-date disability information and referrals to various agencies and individuals within the region Independent Living Skills training Peer Mentoring - Assists individuals living with a disability to identify goals and work to create a unique plan to achieve those goals - Match interested consumers with a peer mentor who provides support, provide problem-solving solutions, social skills, etc. Public Education - Provide information, resources, and materials on accessibility guide, ADA, disability laws, etc. Respite Care Services - Provide short-term in-home care and support when the primary caregiver or family members need to be absent from the home. Systems Advocacy (to implement changes where needed) Transition/Relocation Services - Assist individuals living with a disability in transition from nursing facilities and other institutions into community settings with the goal of preventing institutionalization
