Communication Center - State Services for the Blind

Provides a communication center with the following services: - Braille and tape transcription services for textbooks, vocational, and leisure reading materials - Braille and tape transcription services for businesses and organizations fulfilling their ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) responsibilities (fee) - Dial-In News: A subscription service utilizing synthetic speech to read daily Twin Cities newspapers, accessed by touch-tone phone 24 hours a day (fee) - Lend and repair cassette Talking Book Machines, which are used to read books and magazines provided by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped through the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped in Faribault - Newsline: A service utilizing synthetic speech to read national newspapers and selected local newspapers throughout the country, 24 hours a day - Radio Talking Book: A special radio network on air 24 hours a day, reading newspapers, magazines, and best-selling books to consumers throughout the state

Visual Impairment Materials and Services - American Printing House For The Blind

Offers visual impairment materials and support services which include: - Develops a wide range of tools-from tactile graphics and braille textbooks to high-tech aids like the Monarch multi-line refreshable braille display and the Polly braille learning device - Offers consulting services (digital accessibility, tactile graphics, assessments) and partners with users and experts through programs like field testing and product research - Publishes scholarly titles aiding professionals, families, and individuals impacted by blindness - The ConnectCenter provides free support and advice via webinars, hotlines, and topics like job seeking and family support - Outreach includes regional training, teacher support, extended core curriculum materials for K-12, and the National Prison Braille Network - Offers a library that maintains approximately 25,000 resources (books, digitized archives, tactile graphics, etc.), supporting staff and researchers
