Counseling and Treatment Services - EmPower CTC
Co-occurring addiction treatment program which provides outpatient programming including:
- Domestic Violence Program: 48 hours (24 sessions in 6 months). Helps men comprehend the full impact of domestic violence on their personal lives and loved ones' lives. Starting with an individual evaluation to see what services are needed, EmPower CTC helps participants with 24-week group sessions or individual sessions as needed. Other features include progress reports, dual disorder special programming, extended programming as needed and continued aftercare.
- Individual Assessments: Mental health and chemical health. Recommendations are provided and may include treatment either through EmPower CTC or another facility clinically appropriate for the individual. If the recommendation is for inpatient, EmPower CTC can assist with that process with facilities throughout Minnesota.
- Individual Therapy: For addictive behaviors, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder-ADHD, anxiety, concentration and decision making, depression, impulse control, low self-esteem, obsessive behaviors, PTSD, relationship issues, trauma-induced disorders, veteran adjustment issues and more
- Primary Chemical Dependency Outpatient: 90 hours (29 group sessions and 3 individual sessions in 10 weeks): 3 days
- Relapse Prevention: 90 hours (36 mixed-gender group sessions plus 18 individual sessions in 18 weeks): 2 nights per week

35 Day Evaluation Program - North Homes Children and Family Services
The North Homes Cottage offers a comprehensive 35 Day Evaluation to provide referral sources, children, and their families' appropriate recommendations to meet the client's needs. The Assessment Unit is staffed with trained youth counselors and Mental Health Practitioners who interact daily with clients and provide behavioral observations. The client will remain in the Assessment Unit for 35 days and participate in educational programming through independent School District 318, recreational, leisure, cultural, and spiritual activities, therapeutic groups, art therapy, medication education, eligibility for becoming a positive peer, visitation with family, etc.
- 24-hour behavior observation and documentation by trained staff, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers. A comprehensive assessment, which identifies child and family issues, and historical information is conducted. The assessment team then recommends ongoing services that will best meet the present and future needs of the child and their family.
The North Homes Cottage Assessment Program consists of components including:

Residential Treatment Cottage - North Homes Children and Family Services
A safe place where counselors, therapists, and doctors create a therapeutic living environment to help students who reside in this setting gain the skills they need to succeed in their home, community, and school. Residential care and treatment for boys and girls ages 10-17 in a non-secure setting. There are 20 beds in the Cottage. Youth are referred to the Cottage by County Social Workers, County Probation Officers, Tribal Social Workers, Parents, self-referrals, or the courts.
On-site educational programming is provided by Independent School District 318. Each student will earn credit for school attendance during placement at the North Homes Cottage. The following areas are addressed in each resident's plan:
- Social/Interpersonal Skills
- Emotional Control
- Vocational Skills
- Independent Living Skills
- DBT and skills
Students in the Residential Program participate in various program activities and receive services including, but not limited to:
- Daily therapeutic/psycho-educational group discussions covering such topics as communication skills, emotions, anger management, gender issues, CD information, stress management, depression and conflict resolution
- Individual counseling
- Psychiatric evaluation and monitoring
- Structured daily recreational/leisure activities
- Structured daily schedule addressing daily living skill development
- Cultural education, activities and advocacy
- Community professional mental health services
- On site school programming
- Coordination with community resources and agencies
- On site health screening and care
- Spirituality services

- Girls Inc. Eureka Program: A five-year cohort for youth interested in STEM fields. Partners with the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota to guide participants to explore career interests and dreams while supporting them through high school graduation and preparing them for their next steps.
- Girls RAP Program (Resolution and Prevention) Program: An intervention program that works with 12-18 years old girl-identifying youth using an empowerment framework. Community RAP works with youth who are involved or at-risk for involvement with the juvenile justice and adjacent systems. School-based RAP works with youth who may be experiencing challenges with or within the school environment.
- Out-of-School Time Program: Available to girls and gender-expansive youth in grades 4-8 in the Minneapolis Public Schools and at YWCA Minneapolis. The program focuses on economic literacy, leadership, community engagement, and healthy decision making.

Residential Treatment Cottage - North Homes Children and Family Services
A safe place where counselors, therapists, and doctors create a therapeutic living environment to help students who reside in this setting gain the skills they need to succeed in their home, community, and school. Residential care and treatment for boys and girls ages 10-17 in a non-secure setting. There are 20 beds in the Cottage. Youth are referred to the Cottage by County Social Workers, County Probation Officers, Tribal Social Workers, Parents, self-referrals, or the courts.
On-site educational programming is provided by Independent School District 318. Each student will earn credit for school attendance during placement at the North Homes Cottage. The following areas are addressed in each resident's plan:

35 Day Evaluation Program - North Homes Children and Family Services
The North Homes Cottage offers a comprehensive 35 Day Evaluation to provide referral sources, children, and their families' appropriate recommendations to meet the client's needs. The Assessment Unit is staffed with trained youth counselors and Mental Health Practitioners who interact daily with clients and provide behavioral observations. The client will remain in the Assessment Unit for 35 days and participate in educational programming through independent School District 318, recreational, leisure, cultural, and spiritual activities, therapeutic groups, art therapy, medication education, eligibility for becoming a positive peer, visitation with family, etc.
- 24-hour behavior observation and documentation by trained staff, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers. A comprehensive assessment, which identifies child and family issues, and historical information is conducted. The assessment team then recommends ongoing services that will best meet the present and future needs of the child and their family.
